Ultracyclist Lasse Storm and brand builder Jacob Ørholm, Willing Able, have joined forces with Hjerneskadeforeningen (the Danish Brain Injury Association) and Center for Hjerneskade and are now launching the campaign “Hjerteslag for hjerneliv” (Heartbeats for brain life)
The background of the campaign
Years ago, Lasse and Jacob were both millimetres from losing their lives, each in their own cycling accident. Jacob in a collision with an oncoming car. Lasse hitting his head on the asphalt.
Lasse was left with an internal bleed under the skull that required acute brain surgery and 37 stitches afterwards.
Jacob ended up in an induced coma with two external brain haemorrhages and woke up to seven weeks of rehabilitation in neurosurgery.
The campaign
Since then they have each found their way back to life, through a fight with the disabling effects of brain injury. Physically, but above all mentally and socially. Now they are joining forces to pass on their stories and help those who have not been as lucky as themselves.
THE JERSEY
For both Jacob and Lasse, movement and exercise were also the road to liberation. Hence “Hjerteslag for hjerneliv”.
At the centre of the jersey is therefore an illustration of a brain and a heart shaped like a Yin/Yang-like symbol. Because the brain dies if the heart does not beat, and the heartbeat is in many ways the body’s very own brain medicine.
“We hope our jersey can help make a real difference for people with brain injury and their relatives. At the same time we hope that our stories can raise awareness of brain injury and perhaps even inspire others to get out into nature and get the heart going, so we can make the most of the life we have been given, no matter how big or small the head injuries we carry around.”
Help brain life!
The jersey will be on sale in selected shops and webshops from mid-April, and we will hold social rides and events across the country throughout the year.
